“Cumbre del Sol is one of the toughest climbs you will face, with extremely steep ramps. If you lack easy gears or the gradient becomes overwhelming, you have two ways to maintain momentum. You can significantly lower your cadence or start to zigzag across the road, which instantly makes the slope feel less severe.”

This is the average FTP of all the riders who have been participated in one of our camps, in the past four years, with an average power-to-weight ratio of 3.16 w/kg. For female riders only, the average is 180 watts, at 2.96 w/kg.
Aurelien has this authentic passion for riding a bike that shines through in every moment of each SCCC camp. He really cares about making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and getting stronger, so along with his team he makes sure that we are fuelling properly, that the rides are challenging enough without anyone overreaching too much too early, and that off the bike the food is good, the beds are comfy, the massages are specially designed for cyclists pushing really hard, and that we have some great pictures to look at after each ride and good company to keep us motivated. On top of this, he takes the time to explain why SCCC does everything the way that they do it so we have confidence in his approach and the knowledge to improve our own training when we get home.

“It’s natural to feel eager to impress your new teammates and go full gas on the first day, but resist the urge! Traveling can be exhausting, and we have a long week ahead. Have you ever ride with power? Join one of our cycling camps to give it a try. All our bikes are equipped with a powermeter, and our Ride Captain Aurelien will teach you how to use it during the week! 👇
“Riding with a powermeter is just a game changer. You don't have to be a pro to benefit from having one. I even think that less experienced riders benefit more from riding with power. You can pace better, and avoid putting yourself in the red zone if you rely on numbers more than on your perception of the effort.”

I was a bit apprehensive before the camp, especially being female and going on my own – would the others be stronger than me, would I hold them up, could I keep up etc. As it was, I had nothing to worry about – yes, the guys were strong but the support and camaraderie kept everyone going and it didn’t matter that some were stronger than others. We all looked out for each other and we were all challenged in different ways.

“It’s my fifth cycling camp with SCCC, and I think that says it all. Once again, everything was extremely professional and friendly. I had a great week, learned a lot, and really enjoyed the team spirit, the massages, the delicious food, and the true pro experience. These camps have made me a better and faster rider.”

🔜 There are no coffee rides in Calpe. You are here to ride more, ride further, and ride higher. And today you will face one of the hardest climbs of your life: the famous Cumbre del Sol. If you have tackled Puig Maria in Mallorca, or the Mont Chéry in the Alps, expect something just as brutal... if not worse!

“My third time, and it just keeps getting better. This time it was Calpe, and what a challenge. Long days, plenty of distance and elevation, but with proper fueling, daily massages, and the constant motivation and support from Aurélien and the team, we got it done. Never doubt yourself, prepare well, and you’ll be amazed by what you can achieve. If you want to improve as a cyclist, sign up, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you, SCCC.”

“Welcome to the Queen Stage of the camp! Conserve your energy by holding 85-90% power on the climbs. This way, you’ll have the legs and freshness to finish.”

🔜 This is one of the hardest rides we attempt in six years. Five climbs are on the menu, including the long and demanding ascent to Vall d'Ebo. The terrain never gives you a break, and the elevation adds up quickly. Manage your effort wisely if you want to reach the end with something left in the tank.

“The cycling camp is an amazing experience. I can’t recommend it enough! I went with my partner to celebrate his birthday, and they even made a cake for the occasion! The team is incredibly kind, and the attention to detail is outstanding. [...] Everything is planned for you, and the meals cooked daily by the chef are simply delicious. Daily massages help with recovery, and the cherry on top is that you’ll learn so much about cycling. you might even feel more motivated to train once you’re back home!”

“Today marks our second consecutive long ride, and pacing will be key. With two significant climbs on the route, stick to the wheel on the flats and focus on maintaining steady power on the climbs. Let your powermeter guide you to a strong and consistent effort.”

🔜 Today we explore the beautiful route toward the Vall de Laguar. Expect quiet countryside roads and a sequence of rolling climbs that will test your pacing early in the camp. A great day to build real climbing depth while enjoying one of the most scenic areas of the Costa Blanca.

The riders just arrived at the bottom of the COll de Rates (6.6 km at 5.4 %), all ready for the FTP Test. Should Tadej Pogačar be worried about his KOM?!

“It’s natural to feel eager to impress your new teammates and go full gas on the first day, but resist the urge! Traveling can be exhausting, and we have a long week ahead. To get the most out of the camp and truly enjoy your time here, ease yourself into it. Save those legs for the FTP Test coming up on Coll de Rates climb.”
🔜 For our first ride together, we head straight toward the Coll de Rates. One climb will warm you up, and help you settle into your new bike setup before the FTP Test. The gradients are steady but the rhythm is demanding, which makes this the perfect introduction to the week ahead in Calpe.

Every day is different but there is kind of a daily routine at the camp: we train, we eat, we rest but we also chat, jump in the pool, have coffees and cakes.

Don't overly worry about the FTP test or your position in the peloton. The climbs are a personal challenge rather than a race against your new SCCC team mates, and the atmosphere is always very supportive and fun.

With a total of 712 km, 13813 meters of elevation, and 17 climbs, it's gonna be an incredible week. Are you ready guys?

I was a bit apprehensive before the camp, especially being female and going on my own – would the others be stronger than me, would I hold them up, could I keep up etc. As it was, I had nothing to worry about – yes, the guys were strong but the support and camaraderie kept everyone going and it didn’t matter that some were stronger than others. We all looked out for each other and we were all challenged in different ways.
