“I can’t wait for the challenge in the Alps — it’s a boyhood dream”

Let's give a voice to those who know us best : the riders! The Sa Calobra Cycling Club is a team, your team! Today, an interview with Vincent, who talks about his experience at the Sa Calobra Cycling Club.

When did you start cycling?
Vincent Loveland
: I started cycling back in 2014. I used to ride 20 km to the seafront, have a bacon sandwich (that’s when I still ate meat — haha), then ride back. At the time, that felt like a really long ride! It was simple, but it sparked something — the freedom of the road and the fun of pushing myself.

Where did you find the Sa Calobra Cycling Club?
V.L
I found SCCC online just by searching “Sa Calobra.” I’d heard of the climb and was curious. That search led me to the club, and once I saw what it offered, I knew I had to try it. The videos and stories from past camps made it look both challenging and inspiring. I loved the idea of combining training, adventure, and community in one experience.

You have been here two times already. What makes you come back?
V.L
I come back because it’s so well organised — the rides, the food, the technical insight, and of course, the amazing company. It’s such a professional setup, but also really welcoming. You learn a lot and have a great time doing it. Every time I leave, I feel stronger, more motivated, and already thinking about the next one.

Do you prepare specially for the camp?
V.L
Yes, I train four times a week to get ready, and I’m always trying to improve my fitness. I also ride my Brompton daily for commuting in London — not exactly training, but it keeps me active! Closer to the camp, I focus more on endurance and climbing.

How do you feel about this Alps camp?
V.L
I can’t wait for the challenge in the Alps — it’s a boyhood dream! I never thought I’d get the chance to do this kind of riding. It’s exciting, and a bit surreal, to take it on with such a great group.

What will be your next cycling challenge after this camp?
V.L
Probably a couple of 160–180 km sportives, and then Mallorca in September, with SCCC of course! I’m hoping to arrive in great shape and really enjoy the riding there.
