The Next Chapter for SCCC
We sat down with our Team Manager, Aurélien, to talk about why Sa Calobra Cycling Club is heading back to Calpe this winter—and what it means for the future of our camps.
Why Calpe?
“Calpe just makes sense. First, we have more and more returning riders—so we want to offer them something fresh. New roads, new climbs, a different vibe. It’s still Spain, but it’s a whole new challenge.”
Is this part of a bigger shift?
“Yes. We want to be less dependent on Mallorca. We love the island, and we’ll continue to run amazing camps there. But let’s be honest—tourism tension is rising, and we’ve seen protests and regulatory pressure growing. It’s smart to have options.”
How does it help the business?
“With new business partners onboard, we’re trying to grow, but carefully. The more camps we run, the better the experience for everyone. It helps us spread fixed yearly costs and keep our prices lower than almost anyone else in Europe—while still offering top quality.”
So it’s about volume?
“It’s about sustainability. We’re not trying to grow fast—we’re trying to grow well. That means being able to pay our staff better, offer long-term contracts, and build a real team. Most of us have been together for over 4 years. That continuity is a big part of what makes SCCC feel different.”
Anything else to add?
“Calpe has amazing winter weather, quiet roads, and climbs that go on forever. From a coaching point of view, it’s a dream location. It’s not just about riding somewhere new—it’s about building something stronger, together.”
